AGAPE Project AGAPE (Love) is a non-profit association with more than 300 children who live on the southwestern outskirts of Kigali, Rwanda’s capital. The parents of these children were killed in genocide, were imprisoned, or died from AIDS. Like many organizations in Rwanda, AGAPE encourages children to seek peace over violence, to gain learning and understanding, to be reconciled. The children gather each Sunday afternoon at the home of AGAPE founders, Donatile Uwera and her daughter, Alice Uwera, now a CHABHA-Rwanda staff member, for fun, games, songs, and to learn Bible stories. CHABHA supports health insurance for all the children, school costs for primary and for secondary school, playground equipment, a teen club, and home visiting.
